Picinic Areas in Ohiopyle State Park

Picnic areas inside of Ohiopyle State Park can be hard to come by. The only public picnic area is located on Thorp Knob, heading up the hill towards Kentuck Knob.

The Thorp Knob Picnic area is located less than a mile from town. Heading out of town to the south, make a right onto Chalk Hill Road. This is the same road that Cucumber Falls is on. You will need to go past Cucumber Falls to get to Thorp Knob Picnic Area. It is on the right hand side of the road, right before you get to the Ohiopyle State Park campground.

Thorp Knob picnic area has many picnic tables and grills. However, these do fill up quickly on the weekends and during holidays. If you want to be sure of getting a table or grill, plan on showing up early in the morning. There are also a couple of pavillions at the Thorp Knob picnic area. In addition to pavillions, there is also a ball field and small playground for children.
